Samsung’s mid-range phone with 64-bit CPU leaked
Google last month announced that the next version of Android will support 64-bit processors, and it seems Samsung is working on a mid-range smartphone with 64-bit CPU architecture.
So far, the only smartphone in the world that supports 64-bit processors is iPhone 5S.
According to data leaked by benchmarking app GFXBench, the upcoming Samsung SM-G5308W will have Adreno 360 graphics processor. This GPU is yet to hit the market and will make its debut alongside the Snapdragon 410 application processor, which is based on 64-bit architecture.
The GFXBench data also says that this smartphone's quad-core processor will run at clock speed of 1.2GHz.
Samsung SM-G5308W is said to have a 5-inch display with 540x960p resolution, Android 4.4 (KitKat), 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.
Along with the mid-range smartphone, Samsung is readying a smartphone to compete against HTC One mini 2 and the upcoming Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, according to GFXBench data.
This model, codenamed SM-G8508S, has a 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution, runs on Android 4.4 and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM. It comes with 16GB internal storage and has a rear camera with 12 or 13MP resolution.
There is no word yet on when these products will be launched.
